Break-In Service
Our break-in service is designed to quickly prepare your glove for optimal performance!
Using safe techniques, we tailor a personalized break-in that aligns with your style and preferences.
The more information you provide about your preferred fit and feel, the more personalized we can make the process.
Here’s a brief overview of our process:
- Pre-Conditioning: We begin by conditioning your glove with premium products, ensuring it becomes soft, supple, and ready for the break-in process.
-Glove Forming Treatment: Our glove press applies even force to gently press the hinge points of your glove, allowing them to naturally loosen. This process results in a fast and safe break-in that doesn’t require heat or hazardous chemicals.
-Shaping by Expert Craftsmen: Our skilled technicians use a combination of hands-on techniques, leather safe mallets and weighted balls to shape your glove to perfection. This step ensures that the glove molds comfortably to your hand and playing preferences.
-Japanese Water Method (when safe): If it’s safe to do so, we’ll wet the glove before the process. Some lace colors, particularly red, may bleed when wet, so we avoid those. However, for most other colors that don’t bleed, the results are incredible. This method allows for unmatched forming and shaping possibilities to achieve the desired close and feel. (Safely tested on hundreds of gloves)
Break-In Guarantee:
While there’s no definitive definition of a “broken-in” glove, as they continue to mold with use, we guarantee that your glove will be soft enough to catch a ball easily, have the proper shape and break points, and be ready for your glove game in a few hours or days, rather than months of self-break-in work.
Shape and Feel Description and Options:
- Rolled-Fingers: The fingers are turned inward at the top, giving the glove a shorter bowl shape. This is commonly preferred by infielders and pitchers.
- Flared-Fingers: The fingers are turned outward at the top, providing a longer feel. This is preferred by outfielders. It makes snow cones and scooping in tall grass easier.
Hybrid: It’s also common to see the pinky and thumb have different shapes, such as a flared thumb and rolled fingers. This aligns with the natural shape of your hand and can make the glove feel easier to close.
Wide: The pinky and thumb are stretched apart, creating a shallow pocket that speeds up transfers.
Deep: The fingers and web are pulled back to deepen the pocket, providing a more secure feel for the ball in the glove.
Floppy: We’ll work the entire glove to make it as soft as possible, often used for slow pitch and youth.
Formed: We’ll focus mainly on the hinge points and leave the palm, fingers, and little fingers stiffer. This is preferred for higher levels of play with faster ball speeds.
